Copernicus A Great Astronomer
Copernicus was a great mathematician and astronomer, but his greatest work by far was his heliocentric model. His model placed the Sun at the center of the universe instead of the earth, a discovery that greatly changed the view of astronomy. Copernicus was the first to combine his knowledge of mathematics and physics to form his model. Later in his life he wrote a book called De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium which summarized heliocentric theory. This book was published in the year of his death, even though his theory had been completed years earlier.
