Influence
Cervantes, widely regarded as "one of Spain's most famous writers," was a novelist, poet, and playwright who is best known for his literary masterpiece, Don Quixote. Don Quixote is considered to be the first modern European novel, and is referred to as "amongst the best works of fiction ever written." Cervantes also had written a plethora of plays, including El Trato de Argel and La Numancia, which were his most prominent play productions. While Cervantes was considered only "a mediocre poet," he did have a talent in writing poems. His best poetry works were found in the form of sonnets, particularly Al Túmalo del Rey Felipe en Sevilla. Cervantes continued writing to his death on April 22, 1616. While Cervantes has been dead for many years, his legacy and influence will live on forever.
